Pacific Beach in San Diego

Pacific Beach in San Diego

The winter has kept us cold for some months now, and surfing hasn’t really been the first thing on my mind. But lately that has changed and I realized that surfing in winter is just as good, if not better, than surfing in summer. In this post I am looking at different destinations for winter surfing, and also sharing a bit of my own experience!

As some of you know, I moved to San Diego from Norway last summer. And after two months of living four blocks from the beach, I decided to do the investment of a surfboard. I am constantly broke and had to settle with the cheapest board in the store. About three weeks later I had been out in the ocean approximately 3-5 times a week, but suddenly I stopped going. Then the fall came, it became colder and I became lazy so I decided to hide the surfboard behind some furniture for the winter. My excuse for not surfing was that I had no wetsuit, which I still think was a valid reason to stay away from the ocean. But then, the other day I strolled into a surf store where all wetsuits were 30% off, and soon after I was the owner of a brand new O’neill Guroo 3/4 to keep me comfortable.
